Recover deleted files in Windows with Recuva
Nearly all of us have felt the overbearing sensation of panic as we accidentally delete those all too important files. If you have a backup then all might not be lost, but if you don’t, you may have to see what a file recovery program can do for you.
You may already know that “deleting” a file in Windows does not actually delete the file. Even when you remove a file from the Recycle Bin, you are simply sending a command to Windows telling it to remove it from sight as well as to overwrite it with something else should the need arise. Therefore, immediately after deletion it is likely that your lost file is in fact recoverable. The longer you leave it, the more chance there is that you will have overwritten the file with new ones.
Recuva is a simple and free file recovery program does a good job of finding your deleted files. Not only will it thoroughly search your computer for every deleted file it can find, but it will also have a go with your USB thumb drive, camera/phone memory card and even MP3 player. After its scan it will present a list of its findings allowing you to pick and choose the files you wish to recover.
A word of warning though, file recovery programs are best downloaded and installed prior to deleting your data, otherwise you run the risk of overwriting your file with the file recovery program which kind of defeats the purpose!
